Dhofar 1136

Chondrite (H5) Shock level 2, Weathering level 2

I found the Dhofar 1136 meteorite on January 13 th, 2005. The meteorite is very nice inside, with plenty of metal flakes. It also has a unique backside, with tiny regmaglypts and very nice black fusion crust.

The piece offered here is the entire mass, with the classification and curation specimen located at the Northern Arizona University. NO other piece of this meteorite exists, the buyer will own the entire meteorite.

Here you can see the meteorite in situ, as it was found in Oman.

Dhofar 1136: 322 gram main mass. SOLD

Here you can see the strange backside with the tiny regmaglypts and black fusion crust. This is the side that was facing up when the meteorite was found.

Here you can see the topside of the meteorite. It shows classic signs of orientation, but has no flow lines. The white line around the bottom is calcium carbonate (limestone) deposit. It can be removed, but the buyer can choose to do this or not.

Here you can see the cut face on Dhofar 1136. Note the fresh high-metal interior typical of H chondrites.

Again, this is the entire meteorite, the buyer will receive the collection

photos and the actual field-collection bag.
