Dhofar 1250

Chondrite (L3.8)

I found the Dhofar 1250 meteorite on 4 March, 2005. I found a single stone weighing only 142.3 grams while hunting meteorites in the Omani desert. This meteorite has been classified as an L3.8, shock level 2, weathering level 4. As you can see, it is a very dark meteorite, with many chondrules which are also dark, so they are a little hard to see in the photographs.

       

Here you can see the meteorite in situ, as it was found in Oman.
