KNYAHINYA

Specimen weight: 169.5 grams & 230.1 grams

169.5 gram complete individual from the Minerological Institute of Bonn, Germany #247, and Pester University collection #51H with labels from both.

Knyahinya, 230.1 gram complete individual from the Natural History Museum of London Collection, specimen #41647 with label on stone that reads 28 Knya-hinya. I acquired this piece in an exchange with the museum in December, 2003.

This L5 meteorite fell on June 9, 1866 in the Ukraine, Russia. Over 1000 stones fell, with a total known weight of over 500 kilograms. Although there is a large amount of this meteorite, it is almost all locked in museum collections and few collectors have this meteorite.
